Is everyone on your team clear about what you are trying to achieve together?
Or are they pulling in different directions, piling on more work that keeps everyone busy but not actually progressing the important thing?
Similarly, can they talk about what you are all aiming for?
JFK’s space exploration speech to Congress in 1961 made it really clear the goal before the end of the decade was to put a man on the moon and return safely to the earth.
Clear. Measureable. Achieveable.
There were a swag of associated goals necessary to achieve the mission. You can hear them in the speech. You may glaze over at that point. Even within a 1 minute 40 second capture.
But the mission was lucid.
lucid adjective
- expressed clearly; easy to understand.
- bright or luminous.
During the 60s, American citizen’s knew their country was on a mission to land a man on the moon. The rest of the world knew it, too.
Does everyone inside your organisation know what your main game is? What about everyone outside who is watching what’s going on? Are they clear?
Are you clear?
Make the mission lucid.
