What if everyone was different?

When it dawns on you that not everyone thinks like you, it is like a revelation.

An A-HA moment.

Not only do they not think like you, they don’t have the same priorities, beliefs or behaviours. There is a raft of factors at play, but we’re humans. We are all different.

As a leader, this revelation is a game changer. Recognising a simple statement you comprehend and attach meaning in one way is not understood by others in the same way explains variance. Clear communication, checking for understanding and conversation is essential.

Not everyone thinking like you is also a relief. Isn’t it a good thing that others have different perspectives, opinions and priorities? It makes for a robust team, a considered strategy and a diverse work environment.
